Short-Term Optimization Expert (m/f), 2 year assignment
Main tasks and responsibilities
The short-term asset optimization is the link between mid-term planning and intraday dispatch in the continental assets value chain at Vattenfall. The short-term optimization experts plan, optimize and sell power and associated products for the day ahead up to 6 weeks ahead. Another focus is the participation on auctions for ancillary services. Many decisions are based on forecasts and prognoses. Therefore dealing with uncertainty and making decisions based on uncertainty and probabilities is an important part of the job. At the end of the day you need to deliver an optimal day ahead power plant schedule for all conventional assets including all technical restrictions and capacity for ancillary services. You need a technical understanding of the power plants as well as a good commercial understanding of the power market and the ancillary service market. We work in a team, share and increase our knowledge, improve our processes in order to increase the value for Vattenfall.
This position is characterized by decision making in a challenging and complex field, involving interpretation of multiple aspects. Further topics are the following aspects:
• Short-term production planning up to six weeks ahead
• Creating our daily bids to the EEX power exchange with regard to the current power plant availability, ancillary service contracts, price forecast and the hedge position
• Bidding of our free capacities in the TSO Ancillary Service auction
• Fundamental and technical analysis
• Developing and improving the optimization process and bidding strategies
Your profile as a Short-Term Optimization Expert
Our successful candidate has a relevant technical- or economics university degree. Knowledge of optimization, both operational as well as developing tools that aids the decision making is highly regarded. You have a good command of English and German. You are willing to support in 7 days a week work tasks.
